The Plan for Season Two
13th-Sep-2006 09:05 am

Hey all!

We're exactly 15 days away from the kick off of season two! I'm so excited!

Because I started this group at the end of season one, we had a chance to be a bit more leisurely and contemplative about the episodes, but now, going into season two, I decided it was time to reimagine the community a little. To that end, I've made some changes to procedure and will be working in the next couple of weeks to clean up the community and prepare for what I hope will be some more heavies this season.

I did that poll on Monday to gauge people's plans and wants for the community, and have acted accordingly. If you really want to hear my rationale for the changes, then come on over here.

It seemed people were pretty much split on whether they'd be willing to preregister for metas and bible before seeing the episodes. Now, while I appreciate people who, like me, want all meta all the time, I figured we'd probably be better off if people didn't apply to do metas and such before the episodes aired. So we're going to go to a system wherein I post an adoption listing after the episode airs on Thursday. Metas for episodes will be due no later than four weeks out from the episode airing and bibles will be due two weeks after airing.

It was suggested that we wait until midseason to start the meta adoptions, but I think there were enough "all meta, all the time" responders to give us a stable of volunteers that should be able to get the job done. Also, I've always liked the freshness that comes from a meta that hasn't been analyzed to death in the metaer's head for months and months.

Also, a number of people commented on the fact that, for some episodes, Papa just doesn't matter so much. While my opinion is that Papa colors everything the boys do, this is not my personal LJ, and I've decided that we should only require Papa metas when they're warranted--when he's either in the episode or coating the motivations of one or the other of the boys.

Another request we had was for more discussion. I'm all for that! So, starting with episode 2x01, we'll have a discussion post up Thursday afternoon (before the airings in any time zone), so that people can post first impressions, ask questions about stuff they didn't get, or just squee over Dean in a towel (HEY! We can hope, right?).

I also want to encourage people to feel free to write episode or arc metas whenever the mood strikes them. I have this insane idea to post a Hunter's Resource every week, keeping track of all the metas everyone in the comm has written each week, but I might not be able to find the time to do that, and I'd hate to get everyone's hopes up. Or, you know, my own hopes. *g*

I'll think on that. There should be a way, right?

Anyway, this next two weeks, I'll be writing up a new community rules and policies/procedures post, filling in all the info I can, posting a season one Hunter's Resource, and finishing up all the little missing bits. Remember: If you owe a meta or a bible entry for season one, it's due by Tuesday, September 26. If you need a pinch hitter, let me know. The PH staff is currently working on a number of metas and bibles that have fallen by the wayside, but I think we could probably take more if needed. If you don't post by Tuesday, September 26 at midnight, Central Daylight Time (in the US), I'll consider the meta/bible abandoned, and will reassign it accordingly.

But if you're going to abandon it anyway, let me know so I can get someone on it sooner rather than later. There's no harm no foul around here--real life can truly suck big rocks, and people move away from fandom, and shit happens. *nods decisively* Yeah.

Anyway, more later. Right now, I have to go work. Stupid rl... *grumble*
